A typed autobiographical sketch by Melville C. Brown, a Laramie, Wyoming lawyer. Brown was a Wyoming state legislator, prosecuting attorney for Albany County, Wyoming (1874-1878), United States Attorney for Wyoming (1878-1886), in 1900 was appointed the United States District Judge for Alaska, later practiced law in Seattle, and finally, in 1909, returned to Laramie. Includes a one page letter to Brown from Professor John D. Hicks, Hamline University (January 13, 1917) and rough notes by Brown (5 leaves).
